19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
